How to use the online calculator
Enter an arithmetic expression and select Calculate, or press Enter. Use + for addition, − for subtraction, × for multiplication and ÷ for division. Keyboard * and / also work.
Order of operations
Brackets are evaluated first, then multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction. For example, 2 + 3 × 4 equals 14, while (2 + 3) × 4 equals 20.
How does the percentage button work?
A percentage divides the preceding number by 100. Enter 200 × 15% to find 15% of 200, which equals 30. Enter 200 × (1 + 15%) to add 15% to 200, which equals 230. Unlike some pocket calculators, entering 200 + 15% gives 200.15.
