Flooring Calculator

Estimate flooring packs needed from floor area, pack coverage and a cutting waste allowance.

How to calculate flooring packs

Increase the measured floor area by your waste allowance, then divide by the coverage of one pack. The answer is rounded up to whole packs.

Formula

round up: area × (1 + waste ÷ 100) ÷ pack coverage

Worked example

Floor area (m²)
20
Coverage per pack (m²)
2.2
Waste (%)
10

Applying the formula to these values gives 10 packs.

What should I check?

Use the usable coverage on the pack. Complex room layouts and laying patterns can require more waste allowance.
